Joe Carnahan, Rip director. was singing Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s friendship praises.

During a recent chat with People at the New York City premiere of the new film, the 56-year-old director and screenwriter called the longtime pals’ bond “brotherly” while sharing some behind-the-scenes insights from the set.

Ben and Matt, who marked their four decades of friendship, play the role of a cop duo in the upcoming crime thriller.

“Oh, they razz each other endlessly,” Joe gushed.

The Grey director went on to say, “It’s the way brothers go at each other. It’s the way my brother and I talk: we just endlessly clown the other person and that is them.”

“It’s very brotherly, their relationship,” he raved.

Moreover, Joe revealed that casting Ben and Matt was “very easy,” as the pair is “world-class filmmakers in their own right.”

And both “also own little gold statues,” said Joe, referring to their Oscar-winning screenplay, Good Will Hunting.

“You got two guys; you’re trading on a 40-year friendship, you’re trading on them both being movie stars, which almost never happens. Think about that, these two best friends become movie stars,” Joe added.
