Scott Porter recently shared his unfiltered take on the award-season success of his Friday Night Lights costars, Jesse Plemons and Michael B. Jordan.
For those unaware, Friday Night Lights, a sports drama television series that follows a high school football team in the fictional town of Dillon, a small, close-knit community in rural West Texas, cast Porter as star quarterback Jason Street, Plemons as Landry Clarke, and Jordan as Vince Howard.
At The Aster in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 31, the 46-year-old American actor, voice actor, and occasional singer opened up to PEOPLE magazine about the success of his former co-stars in the most recent award show season.
Jordan stood victorious by winning the Best Actor Award for his role as Smoke in the 2025 movie Sinners at the 2026 Oscars, while Plemons secured a nomination in the same category for his portrayal of Teddy in Bugonia.
Expressing his thoughts, Porter said,”One of the coolest moments of the entire awards circuit this year was watching Michael B. walk up on stage to get his award and turn and point to Jesse who is also sitting in the front row because he’s also nominated.”
“We had an incredible collection of people in our [Friday Night Lights] cast, and I’m not saying talent, I’m saying human beings. So, to see those two human beings that I’m just so proud of almost like on a brotherly level be up there and getting recognized the way that they do and still find the time to find each other and make sure that they connect, that’s what really is all about,” he explained.
The Ginny & Georgia star went on to state that he can “always cross paths” with his Friday Night Lights co-stars, mentioning that all cast members still make efforts to “keep in touch,” which he finds “really cool.”
“It’s not even having to snap right back into who we used to be because we still talk all the time,” Scott Porter said.
