Jamie Lee Curtis and Mariska Hargitay recently found themselves in a heated debate over the correct pronunciation of Los Angeles.
On Monday, June 1, the top-notch actresses of Hollywood appeared together on CNN and Variety’s Actors on Actors series, where they tried their best to convince one another over the pronunciation of Los Angeles while talking about Hargitay’s documentary, My Mom Jayne, which came out in 2025.
Curtis said, “You explained to me that you were making a doc, you had explained to me that you had come back to Los Angeles, you had gone through the beginning of the storage unit,” but Hargitay stopped her because she was trying hard to hold her laughter.
“I’m trying not to laugh, because you just said Los Angeles,” the Law and Order SVU star quipped.
“Okay, we had this argument,” Curtis, the Freaky Friday actress, shared, referring to their previous debate, which prompted Hargitay to add, “She says Los Angeles!”
The Academy winner asked, “But what do you call it, Los Feliz?”
“Yes, but we’re not talking about Los Feliz. … You don’t say ‘Los Angeles.’ If I had a jury here, everyone would vote for me,” Hargitay said.
