President Biden said he will visit Israel on Wednesday to show solidarity with the U.S. ally “in the face of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack.” Biden will then travel to Jordan where he will discuss Gaza’s growing humanitarian crisis with Jordanian King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. As many as a million people may have been displaced from the north of the enclave, aid agencies say. While Biden has sought to provide Israel with military and diplomatic support, he has also aimed to restrain the U.S. ally from newly occupying Gaza, saying such a move would be a “big mistake.”
